Diaper Rash

What follows is a selection of the most frequently asked questions about diaper rash.

The information provided in this section is not meant to replace the advice of your Doctor or Pharmacist. Please contact your health care provider for advice for your specific health or medical needs.

What is diaper rash?

The term "diaper rash" describes several different kinds of skin conditions in the diaper area. Chafing dermatitis is the most common form. This type of rash can make the genital area and folds of the thighs and buttocks appear red and puffy. When a diaper is left on too long trapped moisture and friction from movement irritate the skin . Once the skin is damaged, urine and stool can cause further irritation.

Tips to effectively treat and prevent diaper rash:

  • The best treatment for diaper rash is prevention. The best prevention is keeping the diaper area clean and dry.
  • Always change wet or soiled diapers promptly.
  • Use a diaper rash therapy such as Buttocks Paste by Panta® at each diaper change to form a protective barrier between urine, stool and your baby's skin.
  • Allowing your baby's diaper area to dry in the open air without diapers will speed healing.
  • Use plain warm water and wash cloths or cotton balls to gently clean the diaper area. Avoid the use of soap and wipes which may be irritating to your baby's skin.

How can The Original Buttocks Paste by Panta® help?

Buttocks Paste by Panta® is specially formulated for infants to both protect and heal your baby's skin. It not only treats diaper rash, it can prevent it.

Keeping the diaper area clean and using a protective barrier like The Original Buttocks Paste by Panta® at each diaper change is one of the best ways to protect against diaper rash.

To help speed healing of the skin and provide relief from this common and painful condition, use Buttocks Paste by Panta®, which is enriched with a natural styptic agent, a therapeutic emollient barrier and zinc oxide, the Pediatrician recommended ingredient for the treatment and prevention of diaper rash.

If you see redness, apply buttocks paste right away and continue application at each diaper change until the redness disappears, but remember - You don't have to wait until a rash develops to use buttocks paste.

Gently apply buttocks paste at each diaper change and especially at bedtime when exposure to a wet or soiled diaper may be prolonged. Buttocks Paste by Panta® acts as a protective barrier to seal out wetness and irritants that can cause rashes.

When should I call my Doctor?

Your baby's Doctor is the best source of information for the specific health and medical needs of your baby.

If your baby's diaper rash doesn't improve, if blisters appear, if the rash is bright red or has crusted areas or, if at any time your baby develops a fever or appears to not feel well, call your doctor immediately.
